Latest Gossip From Around the World

Blake Lively playfully hid Penn Badgley behind a paper bag yesterday out in NYC. The Gossip Girl costars reunited in the Big Apple after her stint in New Orleans working on Green Lantern, and now they're back to enjoying romantic walks and public make-out sessions. Their pal Ed Westwick was spotted on the set of their show this morning - he recently spoke to us about how his character, Chuck Bass, will reinvent himself and rebuild bridges this season. He'll also have a fresh start when it comes to his romantic life, with a new love interest played by Clemence Poesy.

As the TCA rages on in LA, we had the opportunity to catch up with Ed Westwick at the cocktail party celebrating CBS, The CW, and Showtime. The actor better known as Chuck Bass had plenty to say about his new Gossip Girl costars, filming in Paris, and why Chuck is about to lose his signature swagger. He even had a few kind words to say about Kristen Stewart and the role he'd like to play opposite Robert Pattinson. Check it out.
PopSugar: When you read the season finale script and saw that you were going to get shot . . . were you nervous?
Ed Westwick: I thought it was a great way to finish the show. Everything kind of spiraled out of control, Chuck's world was falling apart, and it can't get any worse. It was kind of like I got stabbed in the back. But it picks up, new season, I'm in Paris.
PS: How was that?
Ed: Wicked. We had a really good time shooting there. The scenes are cool, it's in the first two episodes. And then he's trying to be a new man, Chuck Bass. He's trying to reinvent himself.
PS: Is there a fun new dynamic with the new characters on the show?
Ed: Yeah, to a degree. Chuck Bass is so alienated himself, he's kind of got to rebuild bridges all over the place. But it was cool. There's a lovely new actress involved, actually, a couple of lovely new actresses involved. It will be great. I'm looking forward to seeing how people actually perceive it.
PS: One of my favorite things about the show is all the Chuck Bass one-liners. Do you get to ad lib that at all?
Ed: No, no. I'm not witty enough for that. They're really fun, aren't they? The character is still a lot of fun to play, and he's really interesting to me after everything that's happened at the end of the third season. It's gonna be a cool direction to go in.
PS: Is it fun getting to wear all the Chuck Bass suits?
Ed: It's like wearing a uniform to work. It's cool, but it's a little uncomfortable in summertime heat.
PS: In a recent interview, you mentioned that Kristen Stewart isn't your type.
Ed: I don't know why that all went crazy! I'd love to clear that up. I think she's a great, great, great girl, who's gorgeous and talented, and I don't know what the hell happened. Clear that up for me, please!

PS: Maybe you need to get her on Gossip Girl.
Ed: She's not going to do that.
PS: Gossip Girl's hot! We all love it.
Ed: Maybe if I had vampire teeth.
PS: Maybe you need to play a vampire with that other hot Brit.
Ed: We should play brothers. Me and Rob Pattinson should play brothers.
PS: In Breaking Dawn?
Ed: Is that the next one? I'll put the call in. Let's do it.
PS: You mentioned we're going to see another side of Chuck Bass next season; what's going to be different about him?
Ed: As I said, after what happened at the end of the last season, his whole world kind of fell apart so you knew it. There's a lot of self-blame there. When that happens, you're going to look at yourself, and try to build a new person.
PS: Is he going to lose some of his Chuck Bass swagger?
Ed: I think maybe he does. Maybe he does a little. Maybe it's the swagger that brought him the trouble, but who knows? Maybe it'll come back, you know?
PS: Do you think it's only a matter of time before Chuck and Blair get back together?
Ed: I don't know. They're two characters who seem like they're cut from the same cloth. Maybe it's inevitable. Star-crossed lovers.
PS: Do you like getting to work with new love interests for Chuck?
Ed: Yeah, Clemence [Poesy] is fantastic to work with right now. She's amazing. So it's an absolute privilege to work with someone like that every day. Yeah, it's great right now.

A few members of the Gossip Girl gang reunited in Paris over the weekend to start shooting their fourth season! Blake Lively and Leighton Meester were together yesterday, showing off a range of fun costumes as they walked through the city. Leighton was conveniently already in France, where she worked on Monte Carlo with Selena Gomez and Katie Cassidy - Katie will actually be back with Leighton soon to film cameo on the CW series. Leighton also had time to break from her movie set for a possibly romantic stroll around the city with Australian actor Luke Bracy.
Blake is back to focusing on her small screen series after spending her hiatus working on Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds in New Orleans. She was in bright blue pants today to greet Ed Westwick, who's now in Europe following his stint in Australia promoting Virgin and talking about his taste in women. He didn't share time in front of the camera with Leighton, but Ed did make the rounds with their brand new costar Clemence Poesy - the French actress is apparently playing Chuck Bass's new lady love.

I realize that most of you don’t care about Ed Westwick. You think he’s a sleazy douche, and you might be right. But just as some women find themselves drawn to Douche Master John Mayer, I am drawn to Westwick’s fey charms. I find him attractive, and his voice is amazing. So sue me. Anyway, my boy is back on the market after several months of on-again/off-again drama with girlfriend Jessica Szohr. Back in April, it was widely reported that Jessica cheated on Ed with one his friends, and Ed dumped her. Then she flew to him and “begged” him to take her back, and he did… for a short while. Then he dumped her ass again! Oh, sweet Westwick.
Ed Westwick’s romance with his “Gossip Girl” co-star Jessica Szohr is definitely over. He was overheard telling a group of pretty girls he and Szohr were “no longer together” while catching the Kings of Leon concert at the Borgata in Atlantic City Saturday.
A spy said, “Ed was dancing with a swarm of girls around him, and he was telling everyone he was single. He carried on the party later with Kings bassist Jared Followill.”

Well, I’m glad to see Westwick is back on the market. It will be fun to see who his next girlfriend is - I bet it’s someone good. Part of my affection for Ed might be that that I think he loves going downtown, much like Justin Long. Some men just have that kind of face, you know? Maybe I’m misreading him, but I think only a man very comfortable in his sexuality could be that openly fey and strange. Would a man worried about his sexuality pose like this?

Ed Westwick arrived in NYC last night after a stay in London with his apparently on-again girlfriend, Jessica Szohr. He's expected to present at Monday's CFDA Awards - check out our exclusive interview with some of this year's nominees! Jessica, meanwhile, stayed behind in England and was spotted out shopping yesterday in the city's Soho neighborhood. The pair seems to be going strong despite a rumored split, as they enjoy PDAs around the globe. Their Gossip Girl costar Chace Crawford isn't having such a carefree day as he was arrested for marijuana possession in his home state of Texas earlier today.
