The Kardashian sisters all came out to celebrate when their friends Khadijah Haqq and Bobby McCray got married in LA on Saturday. The groom plays for the New Orleans Saints so Kim's ex Reggie Bush was in the bridal party. Reggie looked happy to see the whole family and chatted with Bruce Jenner and the rest of the crew. Bridesmaid Khloe was accompanied by her husband, Lamar Odom, while Kourtney and Scott Disick were also among the guests. It's the second wedding in two weeks for the Kardashians after their girl Lala Vasquez tied the knot in NYC last weekend. Kim didn't have her new boyfriend, Miles Austin, as a date for this special event, which probably helped make things less awkward when she ran into Reggie.

Kourtney Kardashian is People Magazine’s new “celebrity mom blogger” or some such nonsense. I wanted to hate on it last week, but her column was actually kind of interesting and it started an interesting debate about cosleeping with your baby. This week’s column probably won’t be as controversial - or maybe it will be, I have no idea. Kourtney is asking for our advice on giving her baby swimming lessons. Baby Mason Dixon is not even seven months old. Too soon?

For the long Fourth of July weekend we ALL — Mason, Scott, Kris, Kim, Khloé, Lamar, Kendall and our entire camera crew! — headed off to the Big Apple! It was Mason’s first trip to New York, where Scott was born and raised.

Scott and I enjoyed taking Mason around the city, strolling outside. What a fantastic city for children with the culture, the museums, the parks, endless activities and the energy.

We also took Mason out to the Hamptons to visit Scott’s parents, who Mason doesn’t get a chance to see every day like he does my family. Naturally, the grandparents were beyond excited to spend some nice time with their grandson relaxing by the pool.

Mason LOVES the pool! (Lots of sunscreen, a swim diaper and a big hat, of course.)

Which brings me to a subject I could use feedback on: I am thinking of having Mason start swimming lessons this summer. I’ve heard that babies become great swimmers when taught early because of their natural survival instinct to hold their breath under water. The combination of a pool and a baby does scare me if lots of caution isn’t taken though.

How does everyone feel about it? When is the right time to teach a child to swim?

[From People]

Once again, I’m not a mom and I really don’t know that much about babies in general, but it seems like there’s a difference between a mom or a dad having their baby in the pool, playing and maybe letting the baby swoop down underwater for a second, and actually paying to get the 7-month-old baby “swimming lessons”. Granted, I know it happens, and I know there’s this movement to teach babies all kinds of things, just because their little minds are like sponges. But swimming lessons?

Did you know that Kourtney Kardashian got a gig writing bullsh-t for People Magazine? True story. I was all prepared to hate on her and her writing when CB sent this to me, but the wind got knocked out of my sails. Kourtney isn’t a half-bad writer. It’s kind of a personal essay, all about how she’s “controversial” for eschewing the popular belief that babied should not co-sleep in their parents’ bed.

When Mason first came home from the hospital, he slept in a bassinet right next to my bed. I remember those early days when he was often up all night and asleep all day. Scott and I would take turns staying up with him, singing to him, rocking him, doing anything and everything to get the little angel to sleep.

I was told that Mason would eventually switch around on his own — so he’d be awake during the day and sleeping at night — which he finally did.

When I was pregnant, a few of my friends told me that their babies slept in bed with them. I remember thinking how crazy that was. Then I started reading up on it and decided it was something I actually wanted to try.

I know that having Mason sleep in my bed might be a controversial topic. But I have to be honest: I just love that time. I especially love how when you sleep with your baby, you breathe together on the same pattern. I’ve been able to bond with Mason so much more. Even if I’ve had a busy day, I always look forward to every night and us spending time together when we sleep.

Mason still sleeps in the bed right now. We take all the pillows off the bed to make it as safe as we can. I try to have him take naps in his crib if we’re home. When we’re on the go, he naps in his car seat and he loves that.

I really have mixed feelings about the whole topic. Some people say co-sleeping for the first two years is good, but now people are telling me the longer he sleeps in the bed with us, the harder it will be to get him to sleep on his own down the line. Of course, ultimately I want what is best for Mason, so I’m really battling with it right now.

[From Kourtney’s essay, People Magazine]

Many, many cultures embrace co-sleeping, not only as perfectly healthy for the baby, but as a must because of space and economic concerns, especially in parts of Asia. My mother told me that she coslept with me, and look how great I turned out? Twitch. Ha, jokes. So what’s the big deal? I think in the 1960s and 1970s, so-called child experts began warning new moms away from it because of fears that the baby would get rolled on by one of the parents, or that the baby would roll off the bed. Plus, there was the belief that co-sleeping might have associations with SIDS, but new studies are showing that co-sleeping might prevent SIDS in fact. My single, childfree advice to Kourtney, for what it’s worth, is to not worry about it when Mason is this little. My take is that when the baby begins to get weaned off the breast, that’s when he begin to be weaned off of sleeping in the parents’ bed. Of course, I have zero clue what I’m talking about, so judge away moms.

In the wake of her sister’s somewhat ignorant and hypocritical statements bashing a woman for daring to nurse her baby in public, Kourtney Kardashian has revealed that she loves to breastfeed her son Mason, six months. She calls the experience “amazing” and tells us that she recently introduced the infant to solid food. I’m surprised we haven’t heard more about it, considering how much personal information she shared with the press during her pregnancy.

Kourtney Kardashian has revealed breastfeeding is “amazing”.

The 31-year-old reality TV star - who has six-month-old Mason Dash with her boyfriend Scott Disick -loves the benefits breastfeeding offers for both her body and that of her son.

She explained in her People.com blog: “I’m still loving it. I love the bonding time, love that it’s natural and what your body is made to do, love the benefits for his body and mine. I find it to be such an amazing womanly thing.”

Kourtney - who recently starred alongside her 25-year-old sister Khloe in ‘Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami’ - admitted she has just started incorporating solids into Mason’s diet, which is leaving the youngster “confused”.

She said: “When I introduced it to him, he seemed confused - but ready and excited for it! I still want to continue breastfeeding for maybe another six months or as long as Mason still wants it.”

The socialite recently revealed her son reminds her of her father, lawyer Robert Kardashian, who died of oesophageal cancer in 2003.

Kourtney explained: “It’s more than his looks that remind me of my dad - even Mason’s energy reminds me of him. Mason is very mellow, calm, peaceful and happy. He’s such a funny little boy who is always laughing and smiling.”

That’s really sweet and you can tell that Kourtney just adores little Mason. I’m glad that she’s advocating breastfeeding and that it works for her and her child. I would have liked to hear her say that her sister was wrong to call out that woman for feeding her baby, though. It’s fine to say that diapers should be changed in private, and maybe Kim was dealing with a completely careless and rude person who didn’t try to cover up at all, but it still came across as ignorant. While I understand that many people think breastfeeding is something that should be done so discreetly no one realizes it’s happening, I also know that it’s sometimes impossible to do. I nursed my son and was often forced to go to bathrooms to feed him when we lived in the states. I remember people giving me the evil eye for nursing my son in the bathroom. I tried to cover up and be private about it when we were out, and it was sometimes very frustrating. Once we moved overseas, I was able to nurse him without stressing out about it, because people in Germany just don’t care or even notice. I wish more Americans could be like that. I guess it’s wrong to assume that a woman who makes a living out of sharing her personal life, being provocative and waving her tits around would understand when they’re used for their natural purpose.
