 Jennifer Aniston & Aaron Eckhart

Jennifer Aniston, 39, and her new co-star, Aaron Eckhart, 39, were such good friends that there was speculation about them. Hey had lots in common besides their age. Aaron had previously requested for Jennifer to be cast opposite his character in the film, “Traveling.” Aaron had already split with his former girlfriend, Ashley Wicks.

The movie was a quirky romantic drama that focused on the 2 main leads. When Jennifer discovered that she was hired upon Aaron’s special request, she was flattered. She said that she had also been looking for the opportunity to work with Aaron. A worker on the movie’s set in Vancouver, Canada, said that Jen and Aaron seemed to be getting along very well.

Jason Statham and Anthony Hopkins at “The Bank Job” premiere

Feb 19, 2008 Author: Celebitchy | Filed under: Uncategorized

You know we’re scratching for stories when we cover a premiere without a lot of big names, but Jason Statham could run around for two hours doing not much of anything and I would watch it, all wide-eyed and rapt. He adds a layer of swoon-inducing kick-ass testosterone to any film, and it looks like his new film, The Bank Job, doesn’t even need help in that department.

The Bank Job is based on the true story of a multi-million pound London bank heist in 1971, in which safety deposit boxes were stolen from a vault. The robbery was only covered by the press for a just a few days before the government issued a gag order and the story faded away. It is thought that the gang uncovered reams of information about a massive corruption scandal involving top government officials along with the royal family. (It has no relation to The Italian Job or the upcoming sequel The Brazilian Job (snicker) except for the fact that it also stars Statham and has “Job” in the title.)

Here’s the description from IMDB:

In September 1971, thieves tunneled into the vault of a bank in London’s Baker Street and looted safe deposit boxes of cash and jewelry worth over three million pounds. None of it was recovered. Nobody was ever arrested. The robbery made headlines for a few days and then disappeared - the result of a ‘D’ Notice, gagging the press. This film reveals what was hidden for the first time. The story involves murder, corruption and a sex scandal with links to the Royal Family - a story in which the thieves were the most innocent people involved.

And here’s the trailer. It looks pretty awesome.

The thing that I found amusing about these premiere pictures is that Guy Ritchie showed up looking sheepish in a cap and suit - but he’s not the director and had no hand in the movie that I can tell. He hasn’t had a critically acclaimed or successful film since 2000’s Snatch.

Anthony Hopkins was looking elderly in a plaid jacket and scarf and full white beard. He also has nothing to do with this movie.

The Bank Job is out in the UK on February 25, and comes out in US theaters on March 7. Thanks to PRPhotos for these pictures. There are also some stills from the film, thanks to AllMoviePhoto.

New Joker figurine based on Heath Ledger’s character to be released

Feb 18, 2008 Author: Celebitchy | Filed under: Uncategorized

There are at least two new official action figures coming out that depict Heath Ledger’s much-anticipated Joker character in the Batman movie The Dark Knight, which is due for release on July 18. Ledger called his Joker “a psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy …” and was open about how he suffered insomnia and psychological torment during his grueling preparation for the role. His family said that it’s fine with them that the action figures are released and that Heath was proud of his portrayal of the Joker. The NY Post quotes a toy expert who acknowledges that the action figures may become collectibles as a result of Heath’s untimely death:

The Post got a sneak peek at the action figures for this summer’s upcoming Batman flick “The Dark Knight,” in which Ledger stars as the psychotic villain The Joker .

Although the doll is being unveiled less than a week after Ledger’s funeral, his family stands behind the company’s decision to go ahead with marketing the collectible.

“Heath was very proud of his work in the film, and his family is aware and supportive of Warner Bros. and its partner’s plans for the movie,” said a family spokesperson.

Mattel will be selling two versions of the Joker doll, both of which hit store shelves in May.

The first retails for $7.99 and features a rocket launcher that can be placed in the Joker’s hand.

The second (pictured), a slightly larger, more detailed version created by famed action-figure designers the Four Horsemen, sells for $10.99 and comes with a toy knife.

“It’s not exactly a marketing point,” said Mattel’s P.J. Lewis of Ledger’s death. “But kids are going to buy the toy if they like the movie.”

Cliff Annicelli, editor of Playthings magazine, said he believes Ledger’s death will definitely increase sales of the Joker figure, especially among adults.

“I would expect it will be a hotter collectible than it would have been before his death,” said Annicelli.

Mattel will probably rely on comic book stores, instead of toy stores, to sell most of the figurines, he added.

“That’s been the marketing plan all along, because the movie is dark and not particularly kid-appropriate,” Annicelli said.

[From The NY Post]

I really want to see this film, because the last Batman with Christian Bale was phenomenal. It was a rare mix of a superhero action film with real depth and emotion. Plus, there was Christian Bale. It’s going to be hard to see Heath on screen, and not think about the fact that he’s gone and that it was one of his last roles. He’s undoubtedly owned it, and advance buzz is that his Joker is darker and scarier than we’ve ever seen before.

Warner Brothers is expected to step away from marketing the film based on The Joker out of respect to Heath. The NY Daily News quotes the editor of boxofficeguru.com as saying that “Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker is already one of the most anticipated screen characters of the whole year.”

Here’s the trailer for Batman: The Dark Knight

Thanks to /flim for the movie poster below and still of Heath and Maggie Gyllenhaal. There are other genuine-looking photos of Heath’s character floating out there that I’ve found, but they seem to be off limits for now.

Movie critic on “The Other Boleyn Girl.”

Feb 16, 2008 Author: ann | Filed under: Uncategorized

Scarlett Johansson

A movie critic has said that “The Other Boleyn Girl” is a box office bomb. Scarlett Johansson seemed to think so as she was not eager to fly to London to promote her own film. The movie raised a few chuckles of disgust from the critic.

Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson,

Natalie Portman & Scarlett Johansson played sisters in the movie.

“The Other Boleyn Girl” was about the sisters, Mary and Anne Boleyn, whose family sold them into sexual slavery to King Henry VIII. The family had sinister objectives of obtaining social advancement by this climb up the social ladder. When this novel by Philippa Gregory was released in a publication, it became a bestseller and was picked for a screen adaptation.

The critic hinted that the production was not confident of releasing this movie in time to fight for the Oscars and BAFTA awards. If you happen to have seen this movie, please let us know your opinion.

Natalie Portman & Scarlett Johansson in steamy lesbian kiss?

Feb 16, 2008 Author: ann | Filed under: Uncategorized

Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson

Natalie Portman, 26, and Scarlett Johansson, 23, were co-stars in “The Other Boleyn Girl” but their friendship seemed to have extended beyond. They were at the Berlin premiere of their movie when they took the time to share a romantic kiss. Natalie might have initiated the kiss to dispel her own fears of being a boring actress. She told the press that she thought of herself as being boring. Scarlett rushed to Natalie’s defence and said that she did not think that Natalie was boring.

“The Other Boleyn Girl” is a film of 2 sisters, Mary and Anne Boleyn in a film re-make of the book by Philippa Gregory. The book was selected to be made into a film because it was a bestseller.
