Sean Bean from Lord of the Rings marries in low-key ceremony

Feb 19, 2008 Author: Celebitchy | Filed under: Uncategorized

Lord of the Rings heartthrob Sean Bean, 48, married his fourth wife today, British actress Georgina Sutcliffe, 29, at the Marylebone Register Office in London. The wedding was a small civil ceremony that was witnessed by just 15 friends and family. The two were set to marry last month, but called it off just 24 hours before the ceremony.

Bean and Sutcliffe reportedly met a little over two years ago at a bar in London’s Soho where Sutcliffe was working. Bean has three daughters from previous marriages, Lorna and Molly, from his second marriage to actress Melanie Hill from 1990 to 1997, and Evie Natasha, from his third marriage to his Sharpe co-star Abigail Cruttenden that lasted from late 1997 until 2000. He was briefly linked with actress Sienna Miller in late summer of last year. [Most details from Wikipedia]

Joe Simpson gets sued again; Jessica hurts fat people

Feb 19, 2008 Author: MSat | Filed under: Uncategorized

Before Jessica filmed “The Dukes of Hazzard,” her only mildly successful movie role to date, she starred in a fitness DVD that has never been released. That’s because the starlet/singer changed her mind about doing the video, and asked her dad/manager Joe Simpson to negate the contract. Now, the video fitness company Speedfit, for whom Jessica made the DVD, is suing Joe Simpson for blocking its release.

Jessica Simpson’s father (and manager) Joe is being sued by fitness video company Speedfit for allegedly blocking the sale of a DVD starring his daughter.

After signing a multi-million dollar contract, Jessica, 27, recorded a workout tape for Speedfit shortly before shooting her role as Daisy Duke in 2005’s The Dukes of Hazzard.

Jessica then changed her mind about doing the tape and her father Joe banned its release, Speedfit claims.

Now Speedfit owner Alex Astilean has filed suit against Joe after failing to secure a $10 million settlement from his daughter last year.

The New York Post first reported news of the suit.

“They are hurting millions of fat people in America!” Astilean tells Usmagazine.com.

[From Us Weekly]

Somehow, I think the “fat people of America” will manage to carry on without a Jessica Simpson fitness DVD. Considering that Jessica works with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, I doubt that she could teach anything new in the way of fitness techniques anyway. However, if Jessica received millions for doing the video, it doesn’t seem fair that she should collect the money and then stop Speedfit from making any money off it. It also seems like Joe Simpson isn’t doing his daughter any favors lately managing her career. Her last movie tanked, her last CD got a lukewarm reception, and now she may be heading back to TV again to promote her country CD.

Note by Celebitchy: This is not the first time she’s been sued for failing to endorse a product. In the spring of 2006, a clothing line sued Simpson to the tune of $100 million for breach of contract. She signed a multi-year contract to endorse a range of low-prices jeans and clothing that was named after her, but she never wore the clothing out as promised and she name-dropped another designer when she was asked about her favorite jean label.

Jessica Simpson is shown out with her personal trainer last year.

Marcia Cross knows how to plan a romantic weekend

Feb 18, 2008 Author: Helen | Filed under: Uncategorized

Marcia Cross sure knows how to plan a romantic getaway - she and husband Tom Mahoney skipped their honeymoon in the summer of 2006 in favor of IVF treatments, as Marcia was 44 and knew her clock was ticking:

She said: “We decided to skip our honeymoon and try in vitro after the wedding. I had already been through infertility treatments.

“It’s very, very difficult to get pregnant in your 40s. It’s costly and tough on your body and your relationship.”

The 45-year-old actress - who gave birth to fraternal twin girls Eden and Savannah last year - is considering adoption because she doesn’t want to put her body through another IVF procedure.

She said: “”I don’t think I’ll have any more kids, but I’m not 100 per cent sure we won’t adopt.”

Marcia - who tied the knot in June 2006 - also revealed she wishes she had become a mother earlier in her life, because she wants to spend as much time with her girls as possible.

She added to Health magazine: “I wish that I’d had my girls in my 30s. Then I could be around longer for them. But they’re an incentive for me to stay healthy, take care of myself, and live as long as possible.”

Sydney Morning Herald

I suspect that many busy working people have skipped their holidays to spend time injecting themselves with hormones in an attempt to have a baby, and it’s probably the best way to attempt IVF, because you’d be more relaxed than if you were balancing doctors appointments and work. Also, it makes a great honeymoon because it gives your new husband the chance to see you at your hormonal worst - apparently IVF really messes with your mood like nothing else. PMS in hyper-drive!

I’m glad that Marcia mentions the cost of IVF treatment and the havoc it causes to your body - it is a really hard process to go through. Marcia is lucky to have two beautiful girls as a result, many couples never have a baby as a result of fertility treatments.

Soon, Marcia’s little girls will be old enough to play with a replica of their mommy - a range of Desperate Housewives dolls are available. And an Ugly Betty doll. Who would buy these for their kids? Although I guess it’s for adult fans of the show, as it’s not children’s viewing. At least I hope kids aren’t watching it!

The dolls actually look like they all have the same head, just with different colored hair and eyes. I guess the plastic parts of the actresses match the dolls, but that is about as close as it gets. My husband is convinced that Teri Hatcher’s pregnancy storyline in the show is the result of a breast enlargement, although I’m not so sure. I am pretty sure he shouldn’t be looking at another woman’s breasts that closely!

Note by Celebitchy: I think Marcia Cross’ conception was also with donor eggs, as she told USA Today that “I don’t like the average woman being misled into thinking that fertility is something that goes on forever. When a woman gets older, they get donor eggs, which doesn’t make the baby any less beautiful or perfect. One’s own eggs only last so long, and sometimes at 43 or 44 you can have your own baby, but statistically it’s very difficult and expensive. You don’t want to wait that long.”

Marcia Cross is shown out on 2/10/08 with twin daughters Eden and Savannah, thanks to WENN. She is also shown on 2/7/08 with daughter Savannah, thanks to Splash News.

Heather Mills & Paul McCartney agree on $108 million settlement

Feb 16, 2008 Author: JayBird | Filed under: Uncategorized

It appears the nasty divorce settlement proceedings between Heather Mills and Paul McCartney are finally over. After two years of petty squabbling, the two have finally reached a settlement, according to several reputable news outlets. Heather will get $40 million in a lump sum up front, and an additional $5 million a year until the couple’s daughter Beatrice turns 18 in 14 years.

Power-dressed in a black-velvet three-piece pantsuit with a crimson blouse, the former model and social activist couldn’t hide her joy as she walked from London’s High Court yesterday, smiling broadly at everyone.

As part of the deal, Mills agreed to never speak publicly or write in detail about the breakdown of the marriage, according to the Daily Mail. The accord came after Mills and McCartney had gone nose to nose in court for five days last week.

Mills will have main custody of Beatrice, but McCartney, whose fortune is estimated at $1.2 billion, will have equal visitation rights. Beatrice’s 65-year-old dad also agreed to set up a $2 million trust fund that she can access when she turns 18, according to the Daily Mail. Mills plans to live with Beatrice in Britain and either Poland or the Czech Republic, where she hopes to buy a home.

A source told the Daily Mail a verbal agreement was reached just before lunch. “They have a settlement,” a source said. “They have agreed on all points. Nothing much has changed this week. There was a deal at the beginning, but it was a complex one. There have been a few tweaks to the agreements, but those have been mostly changes Heather wanted made.” A hearing, perhaps the final one, is scheduled for Monday.

[From the Daily News]

Now Heather can fade away into obscurity, just like she’s been threatening. Most of us hoped it was a promise instead of a threat. Unfortunately Poland and the Czech Republic are not Antarctica/Outer Space like the rest of the world was hoping, but it’s better than nothing. Poor Beatrice having to grow up with such a loon for a mother. Heather wore a bizarre velvet pinstriped suit to court on Friday. It had big lapels and a horrible red shirt underneath. It was very 1993 of her. I’m fairly certain Sir Paul agreed to the settlement just so he wouldn’t have to look at that ensemble anymore. And that “face” of Heather’s doesn’t help. I don’t think face is even the right word. Something more like, “run over cheese pizza” is a more accurate description for the combination of features stuck onto the front of Heather Mills’ head. On the off chance Ms Mills doesn’t fade away into obscurity as threatened, I’m sure she’ll be bitching and moaning with that hideously malformed mouth of hers in the next week or two.

Lane Garrison watches Prison Break in prison

Feb 14, 2008 Author: JayBird | Filed under: Uncategorized

I wish we had an “ironic” tag, because that is exactly what this story should be filed under. While a lot of prison inmates spend their time lifting weights, bulking up, or working in the prison’s pottery studio, vehicular manslaughterer and former “Prison Break” star Lane Garrison spends his time in the slammer watching… “Prison Break.” You see the gentle irony. He also pens letters to “Access Hollywood” - though to be fair, most of us update Pat O’Brien on our comings and goings at least once a week. Here’s a little excerpt.

“Greetings and Happy New Year to you and everyone at Access Hollywood from Donovan State Prison [in California]. Never did I think I would be saying the words ‘happy & prison’ in the same sentence and not be on a set. It’s pure irony coming from the show and now living the real deal. It’s surreal and mind-blowing to say the least.

“Just this past Monday they let a group of inmates watch the season premiere of Prison Break. It felt like an out of body experience as I stood around a crowd of tattooed felons watching Michael Scofield [Wentworth Miller’s character on Prison Break] try to escape … all of us longing to be free as well!

“This has been the hardest year of my life. I hope people, young and old, are learning from my mistakes and what can happen when you drink and drive. I have much to say about the pain I’ve felt and seen inside of prison. It has been eye-opening and a harrowing experience.”

[From Us Weekly]

You know who else it’s been a hard year for Lane? The family of the 17-year-old boy you killed when you drank too much and crashed your car. I’m guessing what they’ve gone through is a hell of a lot worse than prison. Plus they have to deal with it for the rest of their lives, whereas you just have a measly 40 month sentence. I know you said something about learning from his mistake, but make some little mention of the boy you killed, or at least his family. I realize we’re supposed to either feel badly for him or at least think he’s learned something, but I’m just not buying it. But I do enjoy the irony, and hope Lane gets to partake in a few of those other stereotypical prison activities.
